it’s so unfair that Dean n Cas are common law married and they haven’t even made out yet.

Good news: wikipedia tells me that Kansas is one of the states that still recognises common law marriage, and I can’t even see anywhere which says they have to have lived together for 3 years on the US section, even though Cas has now called the bunker “home” over 3 years ago (first said in 10x22) so they have met that requirement if you need to prove it elsewhere. 

The main requirement is that everyone knows they’re married regardless of legal ceremony or paperwork, and that for sure is true in fandom, casual second hand knowledge of the show, and every character in the show except Dean n Cas themselves.
